The PageRank was added by Google, to classify how important a Page seems to be to a special Keyword or Keyword List. Therefore the plan was to improve the search results with the PageRanking. The higher your PageRank is, so much better is the chance for your Page to appear at a top position for search results about this Keyword, the less the PageRank is the less will be the position. Although the PageRank isn’t everything to define your result Position. It depends also from which sites Link to this Page, how many Traffic your Website gather and sure something more, which only some employees of Google will know.
Improve your PageRank
Learn now how you can improve your PageRank, and therefore receive more Visitors to your website, without much work.
Name your file after the Content in it
Google uses for it’s PageRank calculating, also how your File is named in relation to your content. So if your website is about Sports but is named eating.html you will not get the best PageRank you could get if you would simply name the file sports. As sports is quite general and therefore much used, try if it applies to your content more concrete naming like sports-fishing when it’s about fishing.
Put your Content in related folders
Another point that influences your PageRank is that your files, which are now named in relation to it content, are placed in folders which stand also in relation to these files. So you could also put the file Fishing.html into a folder called sports, and you would get the same result out of it.
From my point of view I doubt that the folder have much influence, but you never know.
For sure aviod to use some cryptic looking file and folder naming, it’s not optimal for your PageRank, as well as it makes it needless harder for your Visitor to remember your page if he wants to visit it later and he has no link to it any more.
So try also to use static URIs(Which look at least so) rather than dynamic looking URIs, as the Spider suppose that a dynamic page changes the content faster than a static page. So the indexed Page can be, 1h later already, when someone searches for a in it placed Keyword about another theme the User isn’t interested in.
So one thing I see quite often is that many Blog users, use as permalink structure of their posts just the PostID. But the Problem about the PostID is that it doesn’t tell the search engine anything, about what the file is. As you can guess this will not push your PageRank to 10, so best you use a structure which continues your PostTitle and what’s also not negative the category of the post.
If you want to improve the URI of your Pages, but you’re afraid of all the permalinks which will not work anymore. Here’s your cure: Permalink Migration Plug-in, this Plug-in will link your old permalinks to the new ones with a 303 Redirect Permanently.
Your Title is the Content
Try to describe as compressed as well as concrete what this site is about, this will not only give your Visitors a fast over view what the site is about, the same applies to Google and your PageRank.
Keep your Keywords Concrete
As already mentioned above try to make your Keywords concrete(although to concrete can be negative too, as too less users may be attracted about it), when your article is about sportfishing then don’t become lazy by just writing further fishing, as this will drop your Keyword density, or makes another Keyword balance point than wanted.
Use <h2> and <h3> to show the Spiders, a little bit what paragraphs are about, this creates also better PageRanks.
